This time of year is becoming more important in New Zealand because of Tartan Day – July 1 – and Australia and New Zealand have chosen to celebrate it at this time as it is when the government in London repealed the banning or proscription against wearing of the tartan – amongst other things. North America celebrate Tartan Day on April 6, by Act of Congress in the USA, which is the date the Scottish Declaration of Independence – also known as the Declaration of Arbroath -  was signed by Robert the Bruce and the Scottish nobility – a document to secure Scotland’s freedom from Edward Longshanks, King of England. Not many celebrations are held twice a year – but this is a special occasion.

Please feel free to pass this on to anyone you wish and hope to see you there – thanks!
